The Cat's Mieow !!!

I am really enjoying one of my Christmas treats to myself. Written by Aliaster Duncan, The Norwood Author focuses on Sir ACD's life between 1891 and 1894. I have to say i am totally and utterely hooked on it. It is very well researched and full of interesting facts about ACD i never knew such as his interest in cricket and photography. And he also mingled with alot of renowned authors of the day as well, George Bernard Shaw being a prime example. He also attended the funeral of Alfed Tennysion as well. Really fascinating reading and unputdownable!!! Once thing i would say though it is a book that would require reading again as there is so much information to take in you need to read it over to take in all the information!!  The book even goes into detail about a serious spat between a local vicar and his former wife which had repercussions for ACD as he subsequently became president of the local spiritual society. Oh and here is the best bit, it appears ACD took the names of people he knew in Norwood and local Norwood places for use as characters and places in his Sherlock Holmes stories!! I was amused by that because in my writings i have sometimes done the same thing!!

Still reading it as i say, mostly on the train to and from work and in my lunch breaks. Oh and I should thank Alistair Duncan as his book has already got me thinking about a Sherlock Holmes fan fiction story!! Am playing with the plot at the moment. But i think it will be a good story in the making!! Hehehe.

So please beg, borrow or buy this book if you really want to get to know ACD and the man behind Sherlock Holmes!! And i will later in the year buy some of his less famous books as well. But i have a stackful of books to enjoy first before buying any more books. I confess i AM a bookaholic!! I just simply adore reading and books and now i am running out of space to place my books!! And i am told this is a family trait!!
