I watched a sobering programme on Sunday night on BBC4, missed the first 5-10 minutes of it, but it was a one man play about the Holocaust in Nazi Germany. i found it compelling viewing. The guy who played the Jewish concentration camp prisoner  Primo Levi was someone called  Anthony Sher . It was sheer brilliance and his quite frankly moving portrayal of what life and i should say death in Auschwitz. was like was very moving and left shivers running down my spine.
We should never EVER forget what happened in Nazi Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. Such unspeakable evil should never be allowed to happen again, but sadly i think it will. The internment camp discovered in Bosnia during the Balkan War in the 1990s was a hideous reminder of that. We forget in our lifes of relative peace and prosperity how lucky we are. i certaintly do. Had i been born deaf in Nazi Germany i would never have survived. i would have been exterminated. We should learn to embrace our differences and respect our diversity. Not to do so will only lead to another holocaust if the hatred and bitterness in this world is left to run it's course. How sad for us all as a Human Race. Watching this programme made me ashamed to be part of the Human Race, particularly today in our violent world when we are fighting over religious differences and beliefs. Anyhow i would recommend anyone who reads this diary entry which i've made public viewing to watch this programme and spare a thought for the poor souls who were victims of a terrible evil.
