I have not been able to get this poem out of my head all day. I first read it when i was 14 when my Mother had it up in her study as an embroidery. I was very moved by the poem and i know that it was a favourite of my Mother's. So i have decided to share this poem in the hope that you will also enjoy it as well.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord, that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

Oh well that would be Jesus Christ Superstar

I was about 9 years old when i first heard this first on the West End Stage back in the 1970s and later i watched the film version. This hit me emotionally as even as young as i was, i was already searching far reaching relgious questions and answers.  My school reports are evidence of this too, i was even criticised for paying attention to other faiths as well! Today the teacher would be slated for making such a comment. But anyway this song does symbolise my deeply spiritual side and my search for answers.

Another song that made me think was Another Brick In the Wall

Again this was because it made me think. It is a song about how people are being controlled and made to adhere to the way Government wants us to think, and not have our own views and opinions. This song is still relevant today. We are becomming a nation of sheeple. That is human beings who act like sheep. Following but do not think or protest. For example why do not people protest against the oil companies over the oil spill in America. We are so passive! And the Government knows it. This is applicable to many countries around the world too.

Finally Everybody Hurts by REM

This haunts me because it has very personal signifcance to me. I see alot of myself in it. I empathise with the lyrics and the mood of this song because i have been there far too many times, it is only now that i have revealed to the world my up until now secret battle with depression which i have hidden trom the world for so very long. I also had a friend who commited suicide. i think of her often and it angers me still the circumstances leading to her suicide. She is much missed.
