This is an issue that has been on my mind for some time and i have to say i am extremely annoyed. I dont like people being dishonest about things, lying or doing things that have consquences that are far reaching and not thought about how their actions have a huge impact on others. I have seen this many times before in my life and i dont like it, any of it.  Now place this on a bigger scale when i now go on to discuss the issue of cloning animals.
It all started innocently enough with Dolly the Sheep. i remember this really well, and i felt uncomfortable even back then that we were playing with something that we dont know the far reaching consequences of. Anyway Dolly the Sheep as far as i know was held in confinement until her death. Not long after Dolly the Sheep, a few years give or take, crops were planted in the open that were genetically modified. Our Government tried to calm people by saying oh but they are planted in separate fields. Ha! I thought to myself that was a con job. Even i could argue that the crops would interact with the environment, wind blows seeds away into the air and transports to other crops etc. And then you have insects and birds visiting the genetically modified crops and spreading the genetically modified seeds into the wider ecosystem. The damage has already been done.
And now the latest news is of the scottish farmer using cows bred from a genetically modifed cow and not telling anyone about it, so now people have eaten gentically altered meat and genetically modified milk. And even more damage is done to the ecosystem. It is this dishonesty, lies that may well have far reaching consequences that we dont know about yet. It could be another few generations before we know what those consequences may be for us and the ecosystem.  Here is a chilling drama that emphaises the point rather well.

It really will make you think. A genetic version of an even more horrific horror called Threads. Not something you should watch on your own late at night, but that is another story.  I just had to share my thoughts on this as it has annoyed and alarmed me in equal measure. if we carry on down this slippery slope, will we be destroying what took nature millions of years to achieive to get us to where we are today? I shudder to think what legacy we are leaving for future generations.

I am making this entry public as i think it is important we all stop and think about this serious issue and how it affects us all as a Human Race.
